Does anyone need a new Quill Drive Assembly?

In April, we announced that we are looking to commission a new production run of complete Quill Drive assemblies.

Our new Sales Officer, Alun ‘Mitch’ Mitchell, is hoping to help improve the availability of out of production spares and difficult to get hold of parts. So following a visit to Imperial Engineering, we costed a new production run of complete Quill Drive units. If we can achieve an order of 30 units or more then they will manufacture a one-off run for the Routemaster Association.

To date, we are still short of this figure. If there is not the demand for these units, then the Routemaster Association will put the idea of manufacturing these particular items to bed. Please pass this message around as we can resolve the problems of supply these parts, but we need owners to invest now and buy while you can.

The total cost to manufacture a complete new Quill Drive unit assembly has come out at £380.00 per unit including VAT, and we need to know if there is genuine demand to have a these assemblies remanufactured.

If an order goes ahead, the Routemaster Association will also order a small number to keep as stock for any demand in the future.

So now it is up to the members to decide if we proceed or not. So if you would like to order a new Quill Drive unit, please contact ‘Mitch’ as soon as possible.

If this and other small projects are successful then with the experience we gain we can start looking at larger projects.
